AccountingThe Accounting Division handles payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. State law requires that all general-purpose local governments publish each fiscal year a complete set of financial statements presented in conformity with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and have an audit perform in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by a licensed certified public accounting firm. Pursuant to that requirement, this division issues the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the City. The City of Hallandale Beach has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the past 29 years.
The Budget Division plans, prepares and monitors the City’s annual operating and 5 year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budgets; provides financial and budgetary information for the City Manager and all city departments; is responsible for policy implementation relating to budgetary practices and control. The City of Hallandale Beach has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Award for 28 years.
The functions of the Utility division include accounting for the utility funds, processing water, sewer, sanitation, storm water, fire inspection and fire line rental bills, and researching and responding to customer inquiries and complaints regarding billing and service.
