Vacation Rentals

Earlier this year, the City Commission adopted rules to protect the character of established neighborhoods.  These regulations deal specifically with short-term vacation rentals, and encourage them to be safe and well-maintained.In the City of Hallandale beach, a vacation rental is a single family house or dwelling unit located in an area zoned RS-5, RS-6 or RS-7 that also rents to guests more than three times in a calendar year for time periods less than 1 calendar month or is advertised or held out to the public as a place regularly rented to guests. 

Fees

The registration application fee is $200, the annual registration renewal fee is $150.

Requirements



 Application Requirements:
  • Must be submitted with fee payment
  • Must contain owner, address, agent, and phone number of agent
  • State License, Department of Revenue Certificate must be provided
  • County Account for Tourist Development Tax Payment must be provided
  • Interior Building Sketch
  • Parking Sketch required
  • Affidavit Regarding Smoke Detectors
  • Number of Occupants must be stated
 Rental Agent:
  • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Present within 60 minutes
  • Conduct inspection at end of every rental
 Facility:
  • Land Line must be available
  • Building and Fire Codes must be met
  • Solid Waste regulations must be followed
  • Notice of trash regulations must be posted
  • Maximum occupancy calculated based on available space. Maximum of 4 per bedroom.
  • Additional posting requirements listed in ordinance
 Penalties:
  • $250 for first offense, $500 for repeats
  • Suspension of license, escalating
  • Revocation of license

Remember, the new regulations become effective on October 1, 2016, and only permits registered Vacation Rentals to legally operate within the Hallandale Beach City limits.
